Power for MIDI from MidAir 37
So, here’s a little tid-bit that might save someone a bit of head scratching:
I’ve been trying to control some MIDI hardware from my M-Audio MidAir 37 for a while now. I was hooked in to the computer, and power, via USB. Running a standard MIDI cable out of the wireless tranceiver (which happens to be runnng through an eMagic Unitor
wasn’t passing the input from the wireless keyboard out to the hardware.
I kept giving up and hard wiring the controller to the Unitor 8, thus disabling the wonderfull wireless feature, so I can’t sit back on my couch and play. For some reason I decided to try the DC input to the wireless interface, and BINGO! I guess the USB power didn’t have enough push to run data down the MIDI pipe…
so, now, the keyboard is battery operated, and wireless. The WIreless hub sits strapped to my hardware bench, powered via the 100v->DC converter, its MIDI out running to an inpout on the Unitor 8 and controlling whatever I tell it to in the Unitor software routing matrix. Ahhhhhh!
